Incomplete case studies

Hi Ive just completed a Reflexology course with SNHS but Ive been told I have to resubmit my case studies as they were "lacking in the following areas":

Preparation of yourself and the room
Techniques used - Please give in-depth descriptions of techniques used
Follow-up treatments - These should include techniques used again.

I have looked at other case studies and I thought mine really had all the detail they needed in comparison with others. I'm at a loss now and I feel so disheartened. I had planned to do the advanced course but now I'm wondering whether to pack in and do a different course instead. Has anyone else done the SNHS course? Any advice would be great. Many thanks

Hi angelfriend,

Interesting that you have to add preparation of yourself and the room don't think I ever had to do that on my case histories. Things that come to mind are:-

Temperature, Ventilation, Health and Safety aspects ensure no hazards(too numerous to mention). Cleanliness, hyiene issues. Your hair if long swept back, no dangling jewellery, white overall or as prescribed clothing. Nails clean and cut and filed short. Couch Roll on chair or couch; towels clean, wipes and water to hand plus glass. Handwashing facilities including nail brush.

Techniques - warm up exercises, thumb and finger walking, hook in, back up technique used usually on pituitary, ileocaecal valve and sigmoid flexure reflexes; rotation, holding. Working on direct or indirect reflexes and helper areas. No doubt you've included visual inspection of feet and temperature and colouration.

Follow up treatments - working more specifically on findings of previous treatment.

I hope this helps. Bearing in mind I don't have to add the bit about myself and room on consultations.

Hi there Dot,

It's nice to know some companies offering distance learning courses insist on satisfactory results.

SNHS do seem to offer some good courses but personally I don't think Reflexology should be done without practical study in the classroom. Is this an option and have you done it?
I know doing case studies is carrying out practical work but some people will just make up case studies without going near anyone's feet. Please don't misunderstand me, I'm not for one second suggesting you are one of those people, I just happen to know some who are.
How many case studies have you had to do?
Binah has given you some great ideas, so I won't repeat what she has said. Also, have you had a look in the thread for case studies on HP?
Don't give up, you've got this far and you will be thrilled when you receive your pass mark.
