I think it sounds like progress! Your business is going great, and adding a service can only enhance it. You could really help a new MT get a good start, too, both in the work you could bring them and in the ability to see how you have managed to be so successful so quickly.

Wow, that's great! I am one of those "new MT's" that would benefit from your appointments as well. You could even contact a school and let them know u are looking for IC's. One question, and I know this is silly, but I really don't know the answer, but when you say 70/30, who get's the 70 and who gets the 30 and how much does that amount to?

Why not right now? My husband and I have been discussing this idea too. I get calls for work I don't want to do, and requests for appointments on my day off, so I'm thinking of actually pursuing that business and using an IC. The only investment for me would be additional time spent marketing and arranging the schedule.

Yesterday I arranged a job for a colleague that he will make about $600 on before the weekend is over. It took about 15 minutes of terms negotiation on my part. Even at a 20/80 split, that would have been a cool $120 in my pocket, and he still would have been well paid if I had used an IC instead of just handing it over.

If you've got the requests for outcall, why not find someone who is interested in doing it on a very part-time basis? Do an "on the job" interview... have the potential IC do an outcall on a friend a family member and see how he/she handles it. Of course you don't have to tell that person it is a "trial," pay the IC cut, and get some feedback from the friend...

Just some ideas I've been kicking around. My own practice isn't completely full yet, but having an IC for outcall or my days away from the office would not be taking away business from me, since I don't do outcall or work those days anyways.

I would keep the 30 and the therapist doing the house call would get the 70. If I went through with it, an hour house call would be 65 for 60 minutes, 90 for 90 minutes, and 115 for 120 minutes. If they have two or more people at the same site, the rate would be reduced slightly. For outcalls, I think a 70/30 split is fair, since I am not doing any actual massage work, travel, or having them use my office or equipment.

I'm not sure what the going rate is your area, but when I have ICs doing outcalls for me we typically charge $110 for the first hour and $40 for each additional half hour. I give 70% to most of the therapists, but I agreed to give 80% to one therapist who had a lot of experience, was extremely reliable, and was also a very good negotiator.
