Inexpencive hydro collator idea, would it work?

I was at my local Walgreens today. They sold these nifty devices that plug into your car or a regular household outlet. They are a combo heater cooler. After the $10 rebate, this unit would cost $20.00. Let me know what you think.

/right out of school while I was only outcall I actually had a few clients fill a pasta pot up and have it heated when I got there.
I threw my hydroc pad in for a few minutes.....took it out, wrapped it in towels and had it for use.
Most all of my clients were aquaintences at that time. I don't know if I would ask a perfect stranger to heat up water for me.
I also have brought fomentek bags with me and filled them at clients homes.
What I am saying is, do what works. The unit looks like it would work...I just wonder about how long it would work.

I notice the maximum temp. on the Walgreens heater/cooler is 120 degrees. Hydrocollator units recommended heat setting is 160 degrees. That's quite a big difference.

that was my thought too....that is wouldn't be hot enough. 40 degrees is a huge difference. and that's if would even keep at 120. my answer is no, i don't think it would.

I think you are correct. I currently keep eye packs and socks warm between two heating pads. I took my thermometer out of my stones and stuck it in the middle of the heating pads. The temp was 140. I was shocked to find the temp so warm!! That is warm enough to warm up hot stones!

Turkey Roaster Oven for Hydrocollator - it works!

Go to Costco and get a turkey roaster - $50.00 and you can fit many hydrocollator packs in there. Heat to about 200 degrees and you're set.

If youre looking for alternative hydrocollator packs that retain heat for a long time, are flexible, heavy and inexpensive - I provide them.

They are to be used ideally with the Single Peat Foments - but you can use them without just fine also - just wont be having the benefits of balneo peat - but you will have the benefit of deep pentrating heat with a good inexpensive peat hydrocollator pack in the Turkey Roaster oven.

GreatttLakes, where did you find the rebate for it? I keep looking online but when I click on the link to view the rebate on Walgreens site it isn't there...Thanks for the heads up, by the way! My family has been wanting one of these for our new car (hopefully it will be back to us soon, after the 3 months it's been in the shop after the accident).

I found the rebate in the special rebate circular that was at the store. I have since seen others advertised for $20 and no rebate in other stores. I was busy looking at all the ads in the papers yesteday.
