I feel strange posting this but I'm running out of patience with the healing process.
First, a little background information. I've been doing massage work for close to three years now, but started a new job last year. I was doing about 25-30 hours of massage a week(mostly deep work) and had been trying to cut back my hours. Well, 3 months ago my right shoulder 'popped' during a massage and started hurting. I informed management and went home. Next day I went to the doctor, had x-rays that showed nothing and was sent back to work on limited activity. I continued going to the doctor three times a week for the next 6 weeks for physical therapy. Still, no progress. Finally, I got sent to another doctor who ordered an MRI. This showed that I had inflammation around the biceps tendon in my shoulder, so the dr. gave me some anti-inflammatory pills and put me off work for 2 weeks. When I went back there was still no improvement, so the dr. decided that I should have a steroid injection in my shoulder. Still, no improvement.
Today, I read that corticosteroid injections can cause permanent damage to the joint(Massage Therapy Journal).
Has anyone heard of this or had an injury that took a long time to heal?
