t026 One of my dearest friends became a first time Grandma this past Sunday. He was 9 lbs, 4 ozs and 21 1/2 inches tall. His head circumfrence was 35 cm. OUCH! Little man was a home birth, and the sweet little guy was definitely a conehead because of being such a big baby. Grandma called to [a] tell me he had arrived,an hour previously and to ask me if I would PLEASE do her the huge favor of driving to her son's home to do CST on the baby because the midwife said it would help relieve the pain he was having because of his "conehead". PANIC!!! No education in being able to work with neonates, but have girlfriend w/ said education who also worked on her grandaughter immediately after birth. Frantic phone call to girlfriend. "What do I do?" "Go help the kid, trust your instincts and you'll do fine." Fabulous advice when you know what the @@!$ you are doing - she thought sarcastically.
Long story shorter, arrived at the son's home about an hour later, went upstairs to meet the proud mom and dad, mother-in-law, sister-in-law and both midwives. Room full of people. Girlfriend says, "this is my friend who does craniosacral work." Midwife 1 says, "Super! Where do you want the baby?" Thank god for professional outward demeanor, because inwardly I was wetting my pants and heading for the door. We decided it was best to have baby boy stay in the room w/ mom and dad and lay him on the bed. Midwife 1 had his tailbone in her hand, my hands gently, oh so gently, cradled his sweet little pointy head, and dad stroked his hand. Left side of the skull moved instantly. "Whew!" wiping mental sweat from forehead. Nothing else moved. THEN, I felt 'someone' put a finger to the roof of my mouth - thank god and goodness for spirit guides/angels. Asked dad to let baby boy suckle his pinky finger while we held gently to his skull and tailbone. Gentle gyration through the trunk and hips that mimicked the way he exited his earlier home. Once that resolved itself, bless his sweet little pointy head, the bones moved so quickly into a move lovely rounded and less distorted shape - he actually had fontanelles at last! Baby boy now had a more lovely skull, was ever so peaceful and nursed from mom's breast all relaxed and still instead of the "mad panic to get my boob in his mouth" mom had described earlier.
The neatest thing about all of this experience was the GINORMOUS energy that filled each and every place the little guy was. The CST settled it into a palpable, experiencable sensation that everyone in the bedroom could really appreciate and feel in the room itself and not just when holding this darling, sweet baby boy.
Three cheers for CST, and for the ability to "just be there" with the baby till his skull normalized.
Good news from Girlfriend/Grandma was that after he spent several hours nursing, pooping, and peeing, he drifted off to sleep and slept till 4AM Monday. That was super because both mom and dad were exhausted from the birthing process itself.
Just wanted to share a neat story about CST and baby energy. Have a great day!
