I remember when these same people did a study last year on Mexican 'sex workers" mostly older nastier SGs. I wrote Steffanie Strathdee, PhD on the the lead persons on this study, and told her some of my objections to the study, and sent her some objections that other mongers wrote about the study, and she sent me a letter back to me, she also invited me to take part in the new upcoming study about mongers, but I couldn't make it, as I don't live in San Diego.
But the thing I remember most from reading the study and other study this group makes, is their main purpose for the study is to cut down on HIV/AIDS and to make the sex workers and mongers wear condoms if they are going to engage in sexual activity.
I think some of their information is accurate, but I don't they got a good cross sections of different mongers to interview. US mongers are a little older than 36 years, as the typical monger is about 50, with the average age I would guess at about 43 years old?
I think they got mostly Mexicans, and Mexican Nationals living in the US or Mexico who may also do drugs like METH, and could would the compensation the study provided to these mongers. I wouldn't be surprised if some of their test subjects came from prison. ( but I'm just guessing but I could be wrong.)
But she did say this to me: "Please be assured that our binational team of researchers is not out to ?demonize? sex workers or their clients, we just want to help people make safe choice."
