Interview questions to ask mobile agency

I've got an interview with a mobile therapy agency next week. They called me to ask if I was interested, someone I know gave them my details. To be honest I'm really not that keen on doing mobile work but will see what they have to say.

Apart from questions about pay and when it happens. I want to know how they vet clients, how they ensure safety of their therapists and how they deal with complaints from client or therapists about a client.

Can you think of anything else I should be asking them?

The most important things to remember about agencies are:

- just because youare listed it doesn't mean the you will get work.
- if you have to pay them any money up font then it's a bad deal.
- if the fees you are charge are not related to your book, then it's a bad deal.
- read the contract because there may be some restrictive clauses.
- go in with you eyes open and remember any promise or work, statistics or projected earnings must be backed up in writing.

If you're not interested in mobile, are there other marketing ideas you can explore first?

Some agencies expect you to offer them a certain number of hours a week. Regardless of if they find you work or not. Make sure you find this out up front. I went to an agency interview and listened to their long spiel and they conveniently "forgot" to mention this. Thank goodness I asked because there was no way I could offer them the time they were expecting. I wasted my time and money travelling to the interview.

Unfortunately some agencies are very cagey about answering questions over the phone and expect you to be there in person and even then aren't very forthcoming. I found the whole process demeaning - like they were doing me a massive favour because they were so successful and wonderful.

Thanks Myarka for your suggestions/comments. Yes I am also exploring marketing ideas too as I am trying to build my home clients but it's slow. If I do end up working for this company it will be on a part time basis as I work at a clinc and from home already. In the short term I am thinking of the potential extra income but as you say there is no guarantee of bookings. Anyway I'll see how I feel when I see them. In a weird way I am probably going along to confirm my feelings of why I don't want to do mobile work.

Thank Yogajoga for your comments too. I don't have that much time that I can commit to them. When I first started looking for massage work a few years ago I went to one agency who I assumed would be good but I could see that they were not well organised. I had to wait over 1 hour for the owner to arrive to interview me and then I felt she delieberately was trying to make me feel awkward. Now I am much more confident in myself and abilities so wont' stand for any nonsense - politely of course!!
