Thank you all for your advice and encouragement. The hospital in question is a private one. I wrote to them speculatively asking how they recruited therapists, and they sent a very nice letter asking to see me. Once I've been interviewed my application will be submitted to a board for consideration. At the interview I will ask the person I'm seeing what is involved and how their therapists work. I have heard that they already offer therapies so they may have a few people working there. I don't have any feel for what the hours will be. If I am accepted, they may ask me to hold a clinic on a set day each week eg Tuesday afternoons or Thursday evenings. This is certainly what the medical consultants do. It would certainly make sense in my mind, and that way I would have more hope of filling a block of time with appointments rather than keep driving over there just to treat one person. I'm about to apply to BUPA and PPP to see if I can become a provider, so that patients can be treated and claim the cost of their treatment. I have heard from other therapists that it is very hard to get into the NHS as a therapist, so I decided to take this route instead. And, at the end of the day, it would be very nice too for me to have some regular paid work. It can be so hard when you are relatively new to this game, can't it?
So, I don't know an awful lot and nothing may come of it, but I will give it my best shot because it's a good opportunity to get my face know in a clinical environment, which is one of my big goals this year. I will let you know how it goes!
