Introduce puppy to 2 year old dog?

I got a new miniature pinscher female pup on Friday and already have a two year old male Chihuahua. When I brought the pup home I left her in the crate and let the Chihuahua smell her…he was not impressed! Since Friday he has been ignoring me and sulking with me, he won’t come into my room where the pup is and won’t even sit with me in the lounge (etc). He doesn’t like the new pup at all and I’m too scared too force them to get along-I’m scared he will attack her. Whenever I bring him near her (even just to look) he starts shaking and runs away or growls in frustration. What do I do now? Do you think the Chihuahua will eventually come around?
Any suggestions and help appreciated.

Jealousy. When your dog gets jealous he will get resentful, he will know full well why he isnt getting your attention and the more you try to keep the pup seperate from him the more he will resent her.He may accept the new pup. but he will probably only compromise with you if he knows that he still gets his time where it is just you and him having a cuddle or whatever it is you and he like to do. This worked with my family friends dog when they introduced a kitten to the family.
