Introducing a 1 year old ferret to a kitten?

Okay Im going to go pick up an abandoned kitten tomorrow (been wanting one anyways) but I have a ferret and Im sort of curious how to introduce them? The ferret I've tried to introduce to my moms puppy but she just never was interested and just ignored him and did her own thing no matter if he tried to play, so Im wondering if this will be the same?

Also I am going to take the kitten to the vet and I want to know what kinds of things I have to worry about a kitten transfering to my ferret, any sort of illnesses that can come up? I know ferrets need to be kept apart for a 2 week quarintine time and I was going to apply that to the kitten. Any suggestions on things I should do and what I should look out for?

The kitten is like 7-9 weeks old, around that area. Abandoned/Forgotten at a local petco the grooming manager has been holding it waiting for it to be claimed but has given up after a week and I volunteered to take it.
