Introducing a kitten to an older cat?

How do i do this? i bought a 12 week old kitten yesterday because one of my cats passed and now his brother is lonely. He is 15 and used to play when his brother was alive, how do i introduce this new member of the family to him? the kitten is locked in my room right now and my older cat is wondering round the house.

Remember that it is much more stressful for your older cat than for the kitten. Give the older cat extra attention. But other than that they should be fine. Shure they won't be too friendly at first but give them a week in eachothers company and they'll become best friends!

Just let the cat out. They're not going to get along at first but give it time and they will. i have a one year old cat and we got a kitten and that's exactly what happened. they'll grow to love eachother

all you need to do is let your new cat out of your bedroom so it can get used to the house and when your other cat sees him let them go near each other and play but not for too long, when your old cat starts getting angry take the new one bach to your room for a bit. remember always treat both of them the same because when every one took more intrest iin my new cat and not to my old cat, he got jelous and upset and vicious. so always treat them equally

Just take it slow. They probably won't get along at first, but they will eventualy. i had the same problem, except with a 1 month old kitten that i found, and my older cat hated him. bonding your cats can be done in steps, which i find easiest and most effective.
1) - in a room, put a portible fence dividing it, but make sure the cats cant squeaze through, and that they can see eachother. then sit still, probably on the kitten's side, so your cat can't come woosing to you. leave them there for a little while.
2) when you are happy with how they are going in that step, get your kitten and hold it about 50/70 cm away from your older cat. keep doing this.
3) when step 2 has worked to a level of satisfaction, put both the cats in the same room. HOWEVER: make sure you have places where the kitten and cat can get away from the other one if they feel threatened. continue doing this step.
4) finally, you can leave them together. if they still fight or dont get along, go back to whatever step where things started getting a bit scratchy.
