Introducing a new kitten?

I have a 3 month old kitten. I had her sister kitten as well, but she was sick and we had to put her down. So I went and adopted a new kitten also about 3 months old and also a female. I let the new one have her own space for the first day or so and then I let her out to play. She seems to play and run about and likes me but when my other cat gets close to her she hisses and runs away. My kitten does not hiss back just looks eager to play. Will she get along better in time? And how can I help it along? After all the only reason I adopted another kitten was so my original kitten wouldn't be lonely.

Ok so keep the new kitten in another room then let the other cat roam the house and let them visit under the door and wait about a week and let the new cat out. Also be patient cat are like humans! What would you do if your parents adopted a sister for you!

First, yes - it is almost certain that they will eventually get along. They may not be best buds but they will at least ignore each other. Chances are very good though that you will come home one day and find them curled up together! You may try sitting with one until the other get curious (and he will) and comes over. Talk softly to them both and try to pet them simultaneously.

The fact that your first kitten isn't hissing is a great sign. It shows that he's already comfortable with the new companion. Of course the new kitten will take a little more time to adjust because EVERYTHING is new to her! The space, the people, and the other kitty. Your first kitten already considers the house his territory and seems to be allowing this other cat to inhabit it with him. Your new kitten just needs some time to claim the territory also as her own. You made the best decision in getting a playmate! They will be buds in no time.

There's no need to separate the kittens in separate rooms right now since you already introduced them to each other.
