We have a 9 1/2 year old male TAG whom my husband has had since he was weaned. I work in a veterinary clinic and one of our clients has a 10 year old male sulfur crested cockatoo - I'm not sure if it's a lesser, medium or greater as I have yet to meet him. The family that has the 'too, the wife has become severely allergic to his dander and they can no longer keep him. I told them that I was very, very interested as the sulfur crested 'too is a bird that I've been wanting for many years (And I've done my research). My only question is, through my research, I've had a problem finding an answer to my specific situation. We're going to meet the 'too on Friday and if he seems to generally get along with us (we don't expect him to be infatuated with us our first meeting) we're going to bring him home for a week or two and see if he settles in well with us (i.e. his health and happiness aren't in danger nor is the health and happiness of our bird.) Neither the 'too or the TAG have been around other birds, and though we're not planning on letting them have physical contact with each other, I'm wondering what's the best way to introduce the 'too to our household? The TAG is fairly skittish, he's not nervous or anxious per say, but he has his moments. As far as the 'too, I couldn't say just yet. But, from experience, what's the best way? We were planning on putting the 'too's cage across the room and in front of the other's so they could see each other, but not be too close for physical contact or threatening/dominating behaviors. Suggestions? Thanks in advance!
thanks for your answer =D. We don't plan on letting the pair have any physical contact.. Also, the TAG is my husband's bird, not mine.. and jealous as I am, I've wanted one for myself. hahaha.. Hoping the bird decides to bond with me!
