Introducing Kitten to rest of house and people through pet carrier?

So I got my kitten about a week ago, but she is extremely scared/shy in front of people. She is only comfortable around me cuz she is in my room with me most of the day, but still slightly skittish at times. Everytime my brother or anyone comes in she darts under the bed and wont come out no matter how i try. I want her to be more social with other people than myself. What should I do? I was thinking of maybe putting her in her pet carrier and taking her upstairs near people, where she has to see them and the rest of the house, but I'm not so sure thats a good idea. How do i get her to socialize if she keeps hiding.

Let her stay in your room and have your brother come in and sit on the floor with some treat (be very queit and no quick movements. Have him sit there a while so the kitten gets used to him. Slowly introduce him to the rest of the house and family. If he seems to like being in the carrier put him in there and try that however, if he freaks out don't make him stay in there.
This will take time. Just give him love

My 5 month old kitten sounds exactly like this. She clings to me a LOT and will only go to people if I take her to them...and even then she'll try to get away from the majority of people I let hold her. Every time my dad's girlfriend's kids come over (they're 6 and 8) she hides in a hole in my boxspring that she scratched up as a hiding place (which I find hilarious because I hate my dad's girlfriend XD) but anyway...

I'd say just keep trying to take her to people who live in the house. Hold her and talk gently to her, stroke her and pet her and love on her. Then try passing her to someone else, but still staying where she can see you. Keep this up and maybe she'll come around. I live with my dad and pass her off to him sometimes for a change of pace, and he loves on her and talks to her and pets her. She's still a little iffy around him, but she's adjusting. (She does get out of the arms of his girlfriend though every time she tries to hold her XD).

Let the the kitten continue to stay in your room. Let her hide all she wants.

As the first person suggested, have the other people come to your room. Much better for her than bringing her out into a new place AND have to cope with people at the same time. Have your brother or others who come to your room visit to talk, listen to music, play a game - not to try to pry the kitten out.
Having her used to their smells and sounds will make them seem more familiar to her.

You have still not had her long so her nervousness is not at all unusual.
