Introducing my new kitten to my older cat?

Im getting a new kitten in 2 weeks time and i already have another older cat, shes 8 months old and has been spayed. Im am just wondering how is the best way to introduce them and should i expect any problems or fighting?

Congrats on your new addition, btw. I would keep your baby kitten isolated in one room for the first day. This is for both older kitty, and kitten. The older kitty must not feel like her territory has been taken over by this new friend. Also, little kittens are VERY curious and can also feel overwhelmed...so limiting him/her to one room at a time will be good for the adjustment period. My usual rule for new kitties is one room a day (introduce a new area of the house every day, one bit at a time). This also goes for introducing the kitties to each other. Maybe let them meet each other for about 15 minutes for the first time (gauge this time based on how its going, if older kitty seems hostile or upset obviously don't force them to be around each other long). if it seems to be going well you can increase the amount of time they spend with each other little by little.

Hi.
I first want to say you should not bring home a new kitten unless it is vaccinated.

Since your other kitty is fairly young you should not have too many problems, but should still expect to have some - the new kitten needs to be kept in a bathroom or small room for 1 - 2 weeks, this will allow it to adjust to your home while your own cat gets use to the smell of the new one.

You should always have 2 litter boxes in a house if you have 2 cats.
