I have recently began adding fresh fruits and vegetables to my budgies diets. This is how I have been doing so:
The first new food I introduced them to was carrots. I boiled the carrot until soft, and then chopped it into budgie-size pieces. I mixed this with their seed. It took around 3 days, but then they began eating eat.
Then after they were eating it for 2 days, (so five days from the beginning) I began adding another new food, spinach. I didn't cook that, I left it fresh; I chopped it up into budgie size pieces and after 3 days, they started eating that too. That was yesterday.
So at this point I am mixing the spinach and carrots with their seed daily.
Now today I decided since I had a vegetable, and a leafy green, I would add a fruit. So I chopped up mango to budgie-size pieces, and I am currently waiting for them to eat it.
It seems to be going well. Do you guys have any advice or tips? Before this they were strictly on a fortified seed diet, so this is all new to them. Any help is appreciated. Thanks!!!
