Introducing newborn to formula?

My little on is 6 weeks old now and we want to introduce a bottle of formula to him in the evenings.
When he was first born he was fed by me a bit but had formula to top him up as my milk was to low after surgery so I know he will take it.
We didn't keep up with it when we got home as my milk picked up.
Now we don't know how to go about doing it, he already takes a bottle with my milk happily but just goes mental if we try the formula
Any tips?

I would strictly give him one at night, if you give him too many he may want the formula and not your breast

Breast milk is best, so I think you should continue with that... your baby has also shown a dislike for the formula milk as well. Try and drink more water to help you to produce more milk

You don't say why you want to give him one formula feed a night. Are you not producing enough milk? Just keep trying if its something you really want to do or maybe try a different formula, my baby was feed on breast milk and formula up till 5 weeks when she went on to formula and no breast milk. But she was always bottle fed as I expressed. So keep trying with the formula or mayne try a different formula
