Introducing old ferret to new puppy?

I have an old ferret who was an only child. he is about five years old and we are gonna get a clvier king charles spanial puppy soon. i was wondering if anyone had tips on introducing them because i really want them to get along. he will be a baby puppy but since the ferret is so old i dont knkow if they will get along....he hasnt seen a dog in about a year and he was fine with my neighbors small dog so.....got any tips?
my ferret is also is very dolcile he is so relaxed all the time. he rarely does his war dance and he falls asleep in my arms alot and just sayin i never disipline phisicaly i know the best way to disipline a dog is to turn away and ignore it i will reward him and the ferret with thier first done meeting
