Hi,
Anyone using an ipad for this business? I want to have clients fill out my intake form on the ipad. Anyone doing this? I downloaded a pdf version via dropbox & then tried to fill it out with Good Reader. Not easy. Hoping for a better solution.

Also, any apps you're using for your practice?

We don't (and won't) use Apple products for business applications. Too many issues with product performance, and zero scalability or hardware customization to meet our changing needs.

You could easily use a Windows netbook to create your own PDF intake forms, then have clients fill them out and save the completed files right there. If your needs changed, it would be easy to upgrade or customize your hardware without having to completely replace it. Oh yeah, and you wouldn't have to hunt for reliable apps that don't come with advertising.

I use the iPad to process my credit card payments via the Square app. I think that having clients fill out a form on the iPad would be more trouble than it is worth - at least for me.

THanks Jason & Matt. I just signed up the square to use w/ my phone/ipad. I've heard good reviews about the service.

I switched to mac earlier this year because of reliability issues w/ having a pc. I knew it was time when I was getting to know the guys at the geek place on a first name basis. So far loving it. Have only had the ipad a week so was hoping to shorten my learning curve. So far I'm pleased & have found some great apps.

Someone who came to a talk I did earlier this year was using his ipad for client intake. He seemed pleased w/ it. I have word on my mac, but I don't want to hand them clients my computer to fill out the form. The tablet format seems perfect for this purpose. I'll keep looking.

I'm curious what app the person who attended your talk was using? (or is that where you came up with the Good Reader idea?)

I love my iPad. I, too, use Square but haven't migrated my processing to it fully yet. (Sadly their turnaround time for depositing the $$ into my acct is longer than my current processor.)

I got some more info. The app Robert was using is Tap Form HD. He's been very pleased with it. I opted for FormConnect. Loving it. It was really easy to create the form I wanted. Easy to add info or make changes. Client forms can be printed, emailed, converted to pdf, and stored in dropbox. Here's a link to dropbox. http://db.tt/Y8oYbvoB.

I just went on vacation & it was so nice to have my calendar, email, important docs, etc. with me (& without the weight of my laptop.) I can see that for some a tablet would feel like a toy. But since I split my time between massage and coaching business owners my needs are different. It's becoming one of my favorite business tools.

I'm also using omnifocus for project planning and management. Loving it for capturing all the things I want/need to do & getting them organized.

I'll check out bento. Hadn't heard of it.

i use structuralelements.com for posture, works great when you show them where they are, and wher they should be. I even use it when i do special events to promote massage etc.
