Come one come all and share your experiences with IBS clients! I've just got the one but she is threatening to send people from her support group so I'd love to hear how your clients respond too . . .
My IBS-only client is the only one I see who does not present with concurrent fibromyalgia or other pain syndrome. (Some of my fibro clients have a concurrent IBS diagnosis, but none of them wants to work on it w/massage or it's not as severe as this client's.) This lady loves gentle abdominal work - in fact she's a straight-Swedish, light pressure client, doesn't want to mess with trigger points and likes a little reiki. This has been working well for temporary relief - couple-three days of lessened symptoms, sometimes a few days symptom-free. We typically spend 15 minutes of a 90-min session on her abdomen. She does other stress-mgmt practices and takes some herbs under an ND's care.
Any suggestions for prolonging relief, or any other experiences? Doesn't have to be IBS-only clients, just anyone you work on w/these issues. Thanks as always . . .
