Area"? I am developing a online collaboration tool which has chat application in it. To achieve one particular design goal it was suggested to position the "Chat Conversation Area" on the right side of the "Chat Entry Area". Every chat application I have seen has the "Chat Coversation Area" right above the "Chat Entry Area".
1. Am I violating a usability principle here?
2. Would this layout confuse users?
