i really want to become a massage therapist but dont nurses make more money or as much as a massage therapist do?

Nurses make more money than massage therapists.

The education to be a nurse can take longer, but one look at any "Help Wanted" section of a newspaper will tell you that hospitals and other healthcare agencies are begging for nurses and nurse aides.

If you want something that takes less time than an RN license, some suggestions are Nurse Aide, Home Health Aide, Certified Medication Aide, Advanced Unlicensed Assistant, or Licensed Practical/Vocational Nurse. Some states have different variations of these, and some are taught at different types of schools, but healthcare is a great career to go into.

Some schools offer an RN degree as an Associate's Degree, which only requires two years of study.

I am an RN and an LMT. The best answer: they are completely different, so do the one you want to do. Or both.

Nurses make more money starting out. I make more now as an LMT than I did as a staff nurse in a Dallas ER, but I had to work very hard for about 4 years to build up my business to this level. As a nurse, the money came when I punched the clock. It was also hard work while I was there, but it was a guaranteed wage, which you will rarely find in massage.

As far as the person saying nurses can't find jobs, that's completely wrong. The problem is that potential nurses can't find schools - the bottleneck happens there, not in the workforce. There are not enough nursing professors to staff schools to accept all the people who want to be nurses. We actually have a nursing shortage in this country; a nurse with a BSN will always be able to find work. The trick is getting into nursing school in the first place.

Actually it's the other way around. There are tons of nurses now. At my college there is a 3 year wait just to get into the program. I would say go the massage therapist route. Since so many people are getting their nursing degree it will be hard to find jobs since there is a low demand for them. You usually earn 37,000 per year or more depending the area you work but nurses do make about 66,000 a year. It can go up or down about 10,000 depending on where they are located as well. Though if you are in a great area as a Massage therapist you can make up to 180,000 per year. All in all yes nurses tend to make more but there are also a ton of nurses that went through school that cannot find a job because everyone else before snatched up those jobs.

In the US, nurses make more money ($100,000 is not uncommon), are more respected, and have far more job opportunities than massage therapists.

On the other hand, the education and testing to be a nurse are far more rigorous. If you want to start your own business, that's easier to do as a therapist.
