Is it illegal to online chat with people who are underage?

I have been using the internet to chat with other people. I found people could lie about there age and any other information they want to over the internet. Especially in chat rooms. However, is it illegal to talk to someone who is technically underage? What if the conversation is not sexual? Or if the person lies about there true age and you find out they are younger than they are.

You're ok as long as you don't try to solicit sex/money/gifts, etc.

Just talking, however, is not illegal.

You can chat all you want. But the Constitution of the United States and the Bill of Rights has been CANCELED in the past few years. There are certain subjects that you may NOT discuss with those who may be under an established age limit.

It is incredibly dangerous and inappropriate, yes. What business of any kind do you have talking to kids on the internet? And if they lie to you about their age - YOU ARE STILL AT FAULT. It doesn't work in real life to say "She said she was 18!" and it don't fly on the internet either.
