Is it my technique or something else?

Hello All,

This is my first post on the new forum. I have a question which hopefully wont appear too daft.

When I am doing massage, or reflexology, I sometimes feel a strange feeling, like a very mild electric shock. When I go back over the tissue, I dont seem to get it a second time.

Is this likely to be poor technique, which maybe straining my arms, or is it the clients body trying to tell me something.

Thx for the speedy reply, I find it in particular when working (reasonably gently) on the solar plexus and vertebrae on the feet, and during massage, during effleurage on the latissimus dorsi.

So normally it would be quite light pressure, with relaxed hands, so I dont think I'm putting undue pressure on my wrists.

I'm trying to think back to when it last occurred, and I'm pretty sure it was during a reflex session, there didnt appear to be any problems in the area, and I was working quite lightly, the feeling was quite surprising, but when I looked at the client, they were still resting happily with eyes closed on the couch.

It's hard to describe, as it doesnt happen every session, it's a bit like when you walk under an electric pylon, and feel the need to get out.

Sorry about the descriptions, I will look out for it and post the exact situations it occurs.

It sounds like you are becoming sensitive to the people you are treating which is a good thing, the next time it happens please keep relaxed but just stop on the area where you get the sensations and try sending your awareness through your hands into the person and see if you can detect anything that feels wrong in the area, if yes then we shall see if we can take this a bit further ok

Hi

It sounds as though you are very sensitive to energies and if the sensation is not there the second time you work the area perhaps you have dissipated a problem.
Have you tried reiki, the feeling you describe is very common with that and you are already intuitive. I am in the process of level 1 attunement as well as being a reflexologist and the two therapies work really well together.
