Is it necessary to stop my 4 years old boy being shy when introduce to new people?

My 4 years old boy had became rather shy lately when introduce to new people. I'm worry he is lack of confident. What can I do to stop that and promote confidend in him?

I notice his day care encourage shyness and one of his best friend is very shy. He must be confuse that shyness is good.

What, his *day care encourages shyness*? I've never heard of such a thing before. Day cares try to discourage shyness, and have the children interact together. And yes, you have to try to help him get over his shyness and break the pattern because if he continues on that way, he's going to have a very hard time in life. People often take advantage of shy people, and hurt their feelings. It's not nice but it is reality. And children usually learn from watching how their parents act. Remember, you are his first teacher.

don't worry about it when he's so young. pushing him out of his comfort zone when he's so little could actually be hurtful to his confidence once he's older. you could just drop little hints or play games with him with other kids so he can learn to be more friendly, but i think shyness at such a young age is totally normal. if he continues to be extremely shy in a few years with no improvement then try talking to him about it since he'll be more mature and understanding.

Ask a doctor. One of the biggest handicaps in life is being shy. Especially if you're a boy. Life is miserable.

He's 4 years old, so he's going to be a little shy. If he's still shy when he's 6 or 7, there may be some lack of confidence.
