and if it is a violation.,.,,why are 100% nearly of Polls and Survey questions like this? why this section is allowed? and why doesnt Y!A change the rules for this section? (or is this the only section you can ask "Chatting,,personal types of questions"?

please explain why it is offense too if you can and what is the Polls and Surveys section suppose to be about? and when it became nothing more than a "Troll section"? is this true or are most only acting like trolls? and why?

Yes, it is true that 'chatting' questions are NOT allowed. It is not simply 'back & forth' that is not allowed, but ALL types of chatting questions. It is not allowed, because that is what the RULES we agreed to follow SAY is the case. Examples are given here:

Polling IS allowed, as noted here:

But 'low-level' polls (What is your favorite color?) are NOT allowed, as also noted there. So, what is up with P&S? That has become the 'sequestered' section to keep many of those that consistently misuse the site - in one place. The staff attempted to close down P&S ONCE - and never again. It was a disaster. They would rather have the people that behave this way congregate IN their own section and keep them OUT of the rest of the site.

Does this mean that the P&S questions are immune from being reported? Not at all. Many people DO report there, and many people DO get violations there. And then run around ranting, wanting to know why THEY get them and "nobody else" does. Of course, lots of folks do; they just don't notice it. It is simply one of the risks the folks in P&S are willing to take, in exchange for having their own personal 'playground'.

Chat is defined in the YA Community Guidelines (link at bottom of every page). There are specific things listed that you may not think are chat, but Yahoo defines it that way and you have to live with it. You should go to the site dizzay.com and see what a YA type site looks like when chat is allowed.

Just stay away from questions that simply ask people's personal opinion or personal information. Those can sometimes be ok, but most of the time they are chat. Stick with questions that only ask for facts, figures, and data like a teacher might ask in school. You can ask for example Paris Hilton's age, but you can't ask what people thought of her dress. You can ask "What is a good SUV for a big family?", but not "What type of SUV do you drive?".

Chatting is asking questions that can only be answered with personal opinion and to which only you and the answerer will give a hoot. You can tell most of these by the presence of pronouns (I,we,you,me,us) or pronoun adjectives (your,mine,ours). If these are present your question will be chat 90% of the time and if you can not rewrite the question without them, it is chat 99% of the time.

People have different takes on violations, but I hope you will reread the community guidelines for other types of questions that are not allowed and specifically spelled out such as Fill in the Blank questions (link at the bottom of the page).

The chatting type questions are okay; it is when there is back and forth dialogue between different users answering the question or between the questioner and answerer that it becomes a chatting violation.

Edit: oh right, yes........the two other answerers are correct, sorry. It is more than just back and forth; also asking those specific types of questions - not okay.

Yes, it is! These are a few examples of what YA calls chatting:

#1:How (are you, old are you, was your day, is everyone today)?
#2: What are you/What am I (doing, thinking of, wearing, etc.)?
#3: Guess my/Can you guess my/What's your (name, age, sex, weight, birthday, location, etc.)?
#4: Am I pretty?
#5: Do you like my (avatar, web site, poem, etc.)?

However, there are exceptions. If you were seeking advise and if the question is knowledge-worthy also, you may for example ask about how to improve a website, your avatar or your poem...

About the P&S section: folks over there are a bit more lenient, but actually quite a few of those questions and answers would get deleted if reported for chatting. Rules on YA: no matter in which category a question is posted, it must be knowledge worthy, so asking "what is your favorite color" would already be braking the rules.
