when i go to the gym, i'm there to work out, not make friends. and the gym i go to isn't in the best part of town. so there are some creeps there. i only make small talk with the staff or a few people i already know who go to that gym. so i was there the other night and this guy who looked like he could be in a gang was working out on a machine behind me and he asked me what my name was while i was resting in between sets. i pretended not to hear him. then after i finished my next set, he was like, "heyy, tell me your name" in a way like he was begging or something. so i ignored him again. then he asked, "are you always here alone?" so i asked him why in a very serious tone. and he kinda laughed and said just curious. then i continued my workout and he said bye to me and left. a few minutes later, this guy who looked like he was in his 40's told me that i remind him of his ex because he never sees me talking to anyone there. and sometimes he's wanted to wave at me but wasn't sure if he should. i've seen this guy a few times and i think he's a weirdo. he's the guy that likes to act all tough and slam the weights down when he's done with a machine or throw the dumbbells on the floor after he's done with a set. i'm only in my early 20's. do you think it's rude of me to not want to speak to these kind of guys or anyone there for that matter? i really like to be focused when working out. i'm thinking of wearing headphones next time so people won't bother me. it's not the first time i've had strange guys ask me these kind of questions.
