I think you both are right in a way, i have been going to amps for a long time, problaly longer then anybody on this board, some girls are forced to do this, some come here from other states to earn money for school, some do it to support their families back home. I have been told by some girls they have to pay off a 10000 debt to amps to earn their freedom, but they know that when they come here, some girls say its easy money and tax free. These girls make on average about 800.00 a day. So everybody in the amp world has a different reason for doing it.

Getting back to the original question, “Is the end near”? There’s good news and bad news.

The bad news is that the current era of Asian Massage Parlors is nearly dead. Just count the number of amps (26) in the posted Asian Massage Parlor Address and Telephone listing. That list is only a couple of years old. Then compare that to the number of amps around today (about half that number). Further, the 26 count is probably only about half of the number that existed before the 2005 rewrite of the Texas Massage laws authored by State Representative Rafael Anchia. After 2005, the amp owners had to adapt their businesses in order to survive. Now, the bureaucrats in City Government have figured out how to use the massage laws in conjunction with other vague city ordinances to target the remaining businesses. Like any business, the amp owners will have to continue to adapt their model to their environment. The question is, will they be forced to move their businesses totally underground as some have suggested, and operate from rental houses and apartments, or will they be able to continue to operate store-fronts that are not located next door to daycares, while paying their property tax, sales tax, business tax and (yes even), income tax.

The good news is that as long as there is a willing buyer and a willing seller, the natural law of free-markets will always trump any unnatural law politicians can legislate. The geniuses that have declared war on the amps don’t understand that principle. They also don’t think about the unintended consequences of forcing popular free-markets to operate totally in the black-market. As long as the amp businesses can exist somewhat above ground, there will be some owners who operate with a standard of ethics and treat both the girls and their clients with dignity and respect. When the entire industry is forced underground, it will be dominated by characters from the underworld and the conditions described by asianmaster will no longer be the exception.

A lot of people talk about, and pretend to know the future of the amps, the only people that know the future of the amps is The City Of Dallas. They have things in place to shut them down, that is very clear with what happened to pink and all the others.

Asianmaster - in my book, if you continue to partake of the services - which you obviously do - it is hypocritical to, at the same time, deride the industry. If you feel so strongly against what it might also support - you should stop patronizing these establishments.

Tomcat: one reason the Asian spa scene is dying is that they have bad attorneys. Here is the tact the city is using its case. (A) You can't run a massage business without a license. (B) You can't get a certificate of occupancy for an illegal business (C) City gets a cop who says your girls tried to give me a massage (D) City bureacrat believes the cop and says you are running a massage business. (E) City idiot takes your CO and you have to shut down.

Say you were not an asian spa, but Home Depot. Say one of your employees was giving back rubs. If the city, with no jury trial, no court case, tried to shut down home depot, their attorneys would have the city enjoined and thrown out on their ass. The asian spas court briefs suck and do not make it clear that a City asshole with an affadavit from a cop can't close businesses in this, the Greatest Country on God's Green Earth. The attorneys are lost in the weeds, and should rewrite all of their briefs. They suck.

If the city is so smart their tactic has not worked yet. Aloha and Cleo re-opened after the articles that said they were closed. The city looks to have hit an obsticle according to the Observer.... the attorney.

I have been away from Dallas for two years and I am very surprised at the change in the AMP scene. Surprised at this board, too. ASPD was the king when I was here before.

One problem with the amp scene now is the girls have gotten careless. I had a friend who never walked into an amp in his life, went in and the girl asked him if he had ever been their before he said yes, threw a couple names around from this board, and received full service

AMPs just need to work on not being so visible and in-your-face like another poster stated earlier. AMP owners need to understand that being close to schools or being an island surrounded by mainstream businesses is a lightning rod. It makes it easier for various outlets to sensationalize a story. AMPs need to focus on remaining off the beaten path and in warehouse blue-collar type districts where they are less likely to get complaints.

Dallas officials are cutting their own throat. Even though officials may deny it, sexually-oriented business do play a role on whether some conventions come to town or not. The Puritans should really mind their own business, but they'll never get off their high horse.
