Is there such thing as a "Cold" in your back?
I'm sorry to be the Scrooge of this thread Foxy, but, Bah, Humbug!!
I do not believe in colds in the back!
Whilst these are very quaint old sayings, they dont accurately identify the root cause, and as I have said many times on this forum, without an accurate diagnosis you can never be sure whether the treatment you recieve is making you better or worse! Do your research people!!
I believe that what your husband is descibing is almost certainly a virral infection (cold) working its way through his body. In my experience, if you have a lower or an upper respratory tract infection, the effects of the infection will ususally work its way downward from the sinus, nose, throat and chest as it makes its way through the body's drainage system. One of the 'last ports of call' will be the kidneys.
In that respect, your poor old thing is normal!
I believe, and therapists on this forum might explain it better than I,
that there are areas of the body, which, if left exposed to the cold elements adversely affect the body in ways which leave us feeling much colder than we actually are, I'm thinking of head, neck and lumber back areas in particular, but there are probably others.
This effect can make the muscles cold and achey, but then, so does other muscular and spinal problems, so, as Cassie said, check them out with your GP.
Best of luck and seasonal wishes.
Merry Chrismas!
