I've graduated, opened an office..marketing ideas?

Hi, I graduated school last Friday!!! I've leased an office space, decorated, have it ready to go! Now...I'm putting a small but BOLD blue Yellow Pages ad and a monthly ad in a publication in our area that goes to 16,000 homes in a great area of Sacramento. I've introduced myself with cards and a brochure to all the offices in my building (including 3 chiropractors). My question is, how did you get started with marketing and what worked the best?? Thank God I have a wonderful supporting (both emotionally and financially) husband that doesn't care that I'm not bringing in some $$ yet, but I want to build a clientele and I know it takes some time. Just want some ideas and to know what works best.Thanks, Julia

Congrates Julia  ;D!!!!!I know how you feel.  I graduated in April and still trying to get some clientele.  I put an ad in our paper.....they have a section where people send in their business cards and they post it in the newspaper, on the back page, once a week.  It didn't generate any client's.  I put an ad in the Yellow books for next april.........putting the ad in got me the rep I worked with and a friend of her's.  I dropped of a few gift certificates to organizations that I cared about.......to give to their auctions.  That helped.  Then my neighbor, at my office, came over for a massage and mentioned me to a couple of her friends.  It's hard.  Our town is not very large, but very competative.  I work a part time job doing nursing.  That was my goal......to go part time.  But my first love is massage.  It just feels so Right.  Good luck.  The other posts are right......you can get quite a bit of info here.  I think on one of the thread people mentioned books that helped also.  Word will get around.  I was told it takes about a year.  Is that true???Jamie

I have those ordered! I also got a static cling windshield thing made that has my web site addres on it. Thanks for the input, I really appreciate all on this site and have a lot of respect for everyone here.
