I assume you have done some research on the condition. It all depends upon how severe, what degree, and where it is located. One major problem that arises is that when the area is healing major scar tissue forms adhering the spinal cord to the surrounding tissues for support and to encapsulate whatever is not enclosed for protection. Down the road this will also cause growth problems because it won't allow the body to reach a full height range. I would be very hesitant to work on this are because of the potential it has on damaging the sc itself. I would speak to the doctor about actively doing bodywork anywhere along the spine, but I do feel that craniosacral is a safe modality to stick with at the moment. I assume the child is also going to PT, so I would also discuss with their PT some straeforum.xxxies to assist in their healing process.
