Are we now going to start putting reviews, trip reports, etc. into VIP....are we taking regular members and putting us in a lower class? The haves versus the have nots?

Could be the start of a real bad trend? If something like this gets started, this might as well be a pay site with usernames and passwords to gain access.

I dont think its that at all more of certain individuals who have computer access novias and who are literate of what goes on.. so better safe than sorry.... There are also many situations where the conversation shall we say is dicey. reading it in a public forum can sometimes be not the most appropriate place...

Since less than 1% of total posts are in the VIP forum I don't think its a concern at this time, and it does allow persons to post not in the public eye.

I agree, there's not much posting in the VIP section and what is there, I haven't figured out what is so secretive about it anyways.

IMO, my VIP membership is

1) to help support the efforts of the ADMIN's who took it upon themselves to create this board when we know the other was self-destructing. They never asked for money and always let it be up to you to donate.

2) to take advantage of some of the VIP only discounts, mainly ZB. 2 trips there and it has paid for itself.

Right now, I doubt that the board makes any money (Domain hosting, bandwidth costs, web development, etc.) and if it does, good for them. They were just looking to continue on where the other board failed and have done a great job.

Hear, hear. I second those sentiments.

And the fee to become a member is quite modest, expecially considering the discounts.

DJ...out of 601 posts or reports I have made to this board...I think 3 of them are in the private VIP part. I think the VIP part of the board is a great idea for placing more private details that we dont want girlfriends or govt agencies necessarily having free access to. In my case...I am just trying to protect innocent eyes from my evil ways :twisted: . Hope you understand...

I'm not connected to the administration of CRT so I won't be quite as politically correct.

You've been on CRT for over a year and have posted over 110 times.
In that time I'm sure you've gained at least $36 worth of information.
Maybe it's time you contributed your fair share to the continued existence of CRT.

If you feel the modest VIP membership fee doesn't provide you enough value then maybe your time here isn't of any value either. At the very least it doesn't give you much room to complain.

So if one is not a VIP, then they aren't valuable to this site and don't have any right to complain? Correct? Admins care to chime in on this?

If I decide to join the VIP, it will be my decision and is none of your business. Why I haven't joined is my business and mine alone, however it has nothing to do with the running of this site or who the admins are.

I have posted on Costa Rica starting with the old Redsnake site, then Club Hombre, Costa Rica sex, YMMV, and now here. I have also helped out my brothers in ASPD on many occasions. So I have given back far more than I have gained.

And your post , more especially the part quoted above, is the exact proof of what I have posted in this thread...........is this site turning into the haves versus the have nots? I know why this site was started, and I know what the intent of starting it was. I respect the admins and what they are doing here, however I am seeing, at least in this thread, that this site may be heading for a pay site only status. I do not have a problem with the admins making money on this site, actually they probably break even to keep costs down. I do, however, thank you for your smug try at a flame, because the body of your post, the context, shows in written proof, what I was attempting to say.

I have been around many sites for many years and have moderated two different sites, so don't attempt to hang some sort of newbie status on me.

This could have been handled by pm's or you could not have attempted to gain some sort of 'admin. wannabe' status and 'put me in my place' in front of the admins and other membership. witling, this is pretty much a 'flame resistant' site, so lets keep it that way.

Bottom line is this........if needed I don't mind being put in my place, however I am damned well particular about who does it and just as particular about how and WHERE it is done.[/quote]

OK ... guys.. Enough... We here value everyones opinion and there is no cast system as to VIP's or non VIP's. I addressed your concern early in this thread and did it with complete professionlism. I treat everyone with the utmost courtesy and have never distiginshed between Non or VIP's.

AS STATED FROM DAY 1 THIS Discussion board for all intensive purposes will always be FREE! Enough Said.....

Admin.....I appreciate your post, and the haves versus the have nots were explained earlier in this thread and was done with dignity and professionalism by someone who is an admin. That was good enough for me.
