Five of us stopped by a new place tonight (well, new to me). The name was Kamur Night Club. The new owner, John, is a gringo and he has recently dumped some big $$$ into making improvements. Here's the scoop:

Location - It is southwest of the gulch (I'll get the address later). You will need to take a cab as the ride was about 8 to 10 minutes. A taxi driver in front of the DR knew exactly where it was.

Exterior - The night club occupies the second floor. There is a disco (Sherry's?) on the bottom floor. Look for the iron railings to find the entrance. There is a bouncer at the door to greet you (and collect admission?), then you walk up the lighted stairs to the club.

Interior - At the top of the stairs, you will see the main stage ahead and just to your right. It is surrounded by small tables and chairs (what I refer to as pervert's row). There are more table and chairs located in an outer ring. The bar is straight ahead. They have at least two televisions, although why would anyone watch TV when there are naked women dancing. They have a DJ in the southwest corner and a pool table directly in front of the booth. There is another smaller stage on the south wall, but it was empty tonight. The private dance areas (benches with a table in each alcove) are located along the north wall. Note: there is no fourth wall so it is open to the bar, although you are in the dark. I am told there are even private rooms that you can take the girls to for more fun.

Chicas - John has gathered a fine group of chicas, with something to satisfy just about everyone. I'm guessing there were 10 dancers tonight (Monday). The dancer I was with was a cute, little Dominican with small breasts whose name was Judy. By the end of the night, she told me she loved me - and what the hell, I believed her. There was also another Dominican that was playing pool when we came in who was very fine. She was tall, very pretty, and possessed an outstanding pair of breasts.

Dances - On stage, each dancer took a turn for two songs, stripping naked during the last. At one point, there was a group dance with 4 girls. After the first song, they all left the stage and worked the crowd while shedding their clothes.

Specials - I partook of one private dance with Judy. We went to an open alcove and she proceeded to remove her outfit and allowed me to touch her all over. As I told the others in the cab on the way home, I was even allowed to get a little "stinkyfinger".

Costs - The private dance was three songs for $10. They also have a table dance with two songs for $5. Judy quoted me a couple different prices for the backroom fun, but she seemed confused about how much it actually was. I think we're headed back tonight so I'll have more info later. There probably was some cover charge at the door, but a fellow member of the board (and a good friend of John's) passed us through. He even picked up the entire tab for the night, so I can't report on drink costs for me or Judy.

Summary - Another must see when you are in San Jose. There is definitely something to be said for watching a dancer on stage, then have her come to your chair and grind that body against yours. I'll be back !!!

K-Mar is a very nice place, but can get a little expensive with the girls drinks.

A group went there on July 3rd. Of course I picked a spinner and had a number of drinks with her. We went to the short time rooms and they are just like a hotel room minus a TV. All the rooms are new. The owner sunk some serious money into this club.

The way it works is you deal a price with the girl and she then pay's for the room. So if you deal for 40,000 Colones she will pay 10,000 Colones for the room for the hour.

The private dances are 4,000 Colones for 3 full songs and she gets nude and play stinky finger.

My second nite was much better since I knew the ropes there and what she told me. Yes, got a very good deal my second nite.

Had a great time with Michaela the 6' Czech girl, the back rooms are great with lots of mirrors.

Never give a strip club your credit card and if a girl you're not interested in sits down say "No Company" and they'll leave. Otherwise you'll be buying them drinks, the girl gets a ticket for each drink I assume she gets half(?) of the $$

Wait till your favorites dance then invite them to your table, buy them a drink, take her in the back, come back out, buy her another drink and you'll be her favorite lol. Don't let her order Bailiey's or "Champagne".

This is similar to Argentina so I was familiar with it, my amigo wasn't so got clipped for a couple "Grande" drinks before wising up lol.

If a girl gets 1000 colon. for any drink then they are stupid to order a Baileys/expensive drink and risk losing their "Mark" getting pissed and not taking her back to the room. My Travel Amigo Hoserack was so bummed he told her to leave the table.

Yes I remember that nite there. She didn't even get the chair warm and she was gone.

You remember the spinner I was with? She told me that the girls like the Baileys. Taste like chocolate milk, plus 3 sips and it's gone. When we were drinking the Tequila I think her drink was only about $5.00. And yes it was Tequila. I told her no water in her shot glass and when the waitress arrived with the drinks I would take one of them. The waitress had no idea which one I would take from the tray. Both were Tequila.

Sorry to see Hoserack get so upset in the bar that nite. If the girls were smart, they would ask for a regular drink then work their way up the ladder to the Baileys.

The gringo owner of Kamur is a nice guy, extremely serious about the details of the business, quite open, etc. and took a few of us (Vegas Bob, Gamblingman, and me) on a tour. He said the girls make 40% of every drink that is bought for them. The girls have to pay for the room cost ($25 for 30 minutes or one hour - same price regardless of time spent in the room) and they keep 100% of what the guy pays them above the cost of the room.

Also, for what it is worth, Kamur has a restaurant there, and since the girls are working there for relatively long hours the girls evidently buy a meal/s at the club also.

I'm not into strip clubs all that much in CR however I think that Kamur and Casablanca are the only clubs I would go to at all. And, by the way, I do not consider D'Pefulos a strip club - I think of it more as a sex show club.

Frankly, unless the owner is willing to subsidize the club on a long term basis I don't think that Kamur will survive with the present business plan in operation. I think it will be difficult for him to attract a sufficient number of tourists to come to the club and the tico client base won't spend enough.

On the other hand it may not really matter to the owner as it seemed to me this guy is living out a fantasy of retiring in CR and being the owner of a strip club / brothel. I think it might get real old losing money like this but who knows? I wish him well.

I went into Casablanca 2-3 weeks ago.

The owner seems like a nice guy, but I wasn't really impressed by the club. Moreover, the quality of girls was not the best.

What's your take on Casablanca?

Casablanca used to be called Tentaciones and know they have added some nicer rooms and eliminated the porn that used to be on the TV's. I went there on my last trip and was disappointed by the quality of the girls - there is one girl I know from last year, Isabel, who works there and as soon as I walked in she was all over me - I was not interested in being with her that evening and she did not pester me.

I only had sexo there one time and the price was basically negotiated with Isabel - this was back when they onlyhad one bedroom in the place and I think I paid her $60 - no idea what she had to pay the club for the room. They now also have rooms for private dances but I have not tried that.

I appreciate that Casablanca is not a rip - off / high pressure kind of place. I can't remember what a beer costs at Casablanca but I think it is either the same or less than the Blue Marlin. There is a discount for CRT VIP card members and the waitress was very nice about making sure I received the discount. While girls will come up to you and offer you company you are also fine if you just want to sit there, have a drink and watch a few strippers. I think it was Vegas Bob who said that if you took the quantity and quality of the girls from Kamur and put them at Casablanca then you would have a really nice place and I agree.

I will probably go to Casablanca every trip to check it out as it is so convenient in the gulch. Late at night though you do have to be careful walking by "Tranny corner" opposite the Morazan. I have sometimes crossed the street to avoid the "girls with dicks" that hang out at the corner.

I backchanneled a couple guys on Kumar, I was disappointed that even though we made a special effort to identify ourselves to the owner and show him our VIP cards he didn't call off the drink scammers.

Yes we were warned by CRT guys not to give them our credit cards and it was "only" a $15 drink, and they didn't get me as I know this racket from my Buenos Aires trips.

I don't think he is running that place as his retirement junket the girls and operation are very efficient. We were the only gringos in there most of Saturday night and the local ticos just sat not spending a dime. We were also the only ones taking girls back in the room (I took the Czech girl back and JeffNew acted on my positive review and took her back also).

The girls there are hot and I like being able to check out their dance moves first before taking a room, but I agree if Kumar doesn't cater to CRT and gringos they won't last.

I too enjoyed Kamur Very much, but I have yet to figure out a way for it to be fair to the owner and fair to us as well. No cover, 1st drink free and reasonable priced drinks for us is great, but where does Kamur make their money? 25.00 for the hour for the back rooms that aren't used that much?

Drinks for the girls maybe is their only way to subsidize, so I dont have a counter proposal only a suggestion from the Mgr. HE indicated the best way is to insist ON SINGLE drinks only for the girl at $8.00 of which they get 40% so the girls happy, your average of $8.00 plus 3-4 for your drink makes the average $5.50 to $6.00 per drink for both of you.... I can live with that to enjoy good dancers, and the ability to review what you may want to take in the back.

At least this place will experiment and listen to our input. I'm quite sure the owner will respond in a reasonable way to any of our feedback. Most of the other dance clubs here have no way to provide feedback...and have no interest in doing so. Only in getting you drunk and taking as much out of your pocket per visit as possible. So in my book...KMUR is about as good as you are going to get it right now in San Jose. At least thats the way your "sleazeball tour" director sees it :twisted:

Here in the Hollywood, CA. area you would pay the entrence fee of $10 - $20. $5.00 for a coke. No liquor if it's a nude bar. $10.00 for a girls drink. Tips figure $5.00 for her set of songs. Private non-nude dance $20.00. (no touching)
So you've pay about $50.00 - $60.00 for nothing. This is why I go maybe once a year.

Kamur seem reasonable for a nite out compared to Los Angeles area for the same entertainment. $0 entrence fee, $0 first drink, $8.00 girls drink, $5.00 drink, $0 for tips for the dancers, $9.00 private nude dance. (touching all over) Total $22.00. I guess thats why I went back to back nites there. Of course you know your going to get laid there if you want.

amen nanaponger! I think we all need to put things in perspective. Sure any time you "spoil" a girl with anything, your wallet will take a hit. But, as a previous post said..."just say no" or "only one". Are we all to cheap to spend $8 or $13 on a beautiful girl to sit on our side and whisper sweet nothings? Hell no. Heck, I bought Lucy a drink last week, and it was $6.50 and lord knows she aint pretty, and I didn't see her naked. Keep it real!
