Keep it or change it?

Right now I'm calling my business "Relax Massage Therapy". I don't have a whole lot of items with my business name on it, and I don't think many people even realize that I HAVE a 'business name', KWIM? I'm starting to think it sounds dumb, and I want something a little more...well, just something else!

I'm currently renting a small area of a small hair salon from a friend who is the hairdress/owner. She & I have decided to scrap our current building, and we've found a HUGE space (easily 4 times the size of our current shop) for HALF the price, in a better location. We officially become the renters tomorrow, and are going to bust our behinds to get it fixed up & ready by Dec. 1st. Instead of me renting from her, we will be renting together and my business name will be going on the window. I'm also joining the Chamber of Commerce & we're going to have an open house, and be featured in both of the local newspapers.

So that is what has really sparked the idea that I need a new name for my business. She calls her business "Lindsay's Cowlick" (cute, ain't it?) and my name will be right next to it, as in "Lindsay's Cowlick & _____" I orignally wanted to go with "The Pink Lotus" but my mother thought it sounded like a part of a woman's anatomy : Maybe "Zen Massage Therapy" ??

Any advice is appreciated, thanks in advance
Also, any idea where to find decorating ideas for a therapy room??

I'm thinking that since her name is cute yours should be too. I agree with your mama about the pink lotus. I'm not very good at names but here goes

Also my MT at the Y has her room all done in horses, and it's cute as anything, so I say go with what you like.

The thing is, if you put "Lindsay's Cowlick & Comfort Corner" it will sound like both are done by or belong to Lindsay. I would suggest dropping the ampersand, then putting a distinct division between the two names, whichever comes first. The fonts could be different, too, giving the visual cue of seperate businesses sharing space.

I agree with both above, esp. about leaving out the 'and' and defining your position in the place. I vote for 2 fonts.

I like where you were going with Pink Lotus but I do agree with your mom now that I thought about it (*giggle*) Tell her Good Catch! And while I am not a fan of cutesy, I admit it fits in this case Good luck in your new spot!!

I like Cicerone's name idea, PinkLotus. And I do also see the MAJOR point your mom pointed out about the lovely flower... could be mis-taken, for sure!

Could you do 's Tension Tamer? (I hope Celestial Seasonings wouldn't get upset...)

My Mom jokingly suggested (in keeping with the theme) Udderly Delightful Massage. :grin:

I rent a room from Electric Beach and have a ton of marketing material out with our names together. Touch of Grace Massage Therapy doesn't exactly go with Electric Beach, but it is what I wanted which is why it works. Go with what you really want and make it happen... Congrats on your new place!

OOOOH great ideas! I like Ivy's Tension Tamer Cute! I totally agree about keeping our names separate with two different fonts. Super, super idea. I knew you guys would help!

Congrats on your upcoming move. It sounds great!

I'm a bit more conservative in my approach to my business name (mine is simply 'Spencer Massage'). It's okay to be cute, but you also have to consider your market. I might try to tone it down a bit.

As for fonts. I would leave out the &. I would have a line or some other demarcation to show (to even the slowest of clients) that there are two specific and separate businesses. I would also use the same font. Doing otherwise may be too confusing.
