Keep redeemed Gift Certificates?

Can anyone see any reason to keep redeemed gift certificates? I have been reluctant to throw them out, but I don't really know why, other than natural pack-rat tendencies.Thanks for your input!Andrea

I keep mine too!When someone redeems a gift certificate, I write "redeemed MM/DD/YY" on the back, along with a note of who redeemed it (if their name isn't on the front) and whether or not they upgraded to a longer session.  Then I tuck it away in the designated spot in my filing cabinet, along with all the others.I'm not really sure why I do it either - it just seems like a business record that should be saved for a period of time, just like a cancelled check or schedule book.  That - and the info I write on the back might be useful for something.

I keep a tracking log for all my certificates.  I track who bought it, their number, who they bought it for and their number.  This way I have a phone number to call.  After a month goes by and they don't call to make an appt, I can call them to set it up.  When its redeemed I mark on the log when it was used.  Keeps all the information in one spot.

I keep all of my redeemend GC.  It's just another way of keeping record of when it was used.  Also if you had a client who may try to use it again (the I lost my GC gimmick) you have a record of when it was used.

Am I the only one who tosses them?  I am normally a pack rat, but I keep a detailed log of who purchased, for whom and who redeemed it.  I also write in that clients record that a GC was redeemed on that day when I make my post-session notes.  I think that is enough.  At least for me.Sommer

Keep redeemed Gift Certificates?

We record the sale, but rarely ever see the GCs.If someone wants to redeem it, we look it up. Once redeemed, it gets noted accordingly.That way if they can't find it, lose it, whatever, they can still use it. It also allows us to check to make sure no one is trying to redeem one twice by saying the can't find it either time.
