Another Kane County massage spa has had its license revoked after a license renewal inspection and police sting.
The St. Charles Liquor Control Commission, under Mayor Raymond Rogina, revoked the license of Still Waters Spa on Thursday following a hearing Monday.
The spa, in the 2000 block of Prairie Street, was cited April 29 for prohibited acts and conditions. In addition to the license revocation, the business must pay a $500 fine.
On April 24, a St. Charles police officer conducted a brief background investigation on the spa because it had applied for a license renewal, according to police reports. During the inspection, the officer told an employee to close the business because no one there at the time had a valid Illinois massage therapist license, according to police reports.
On April 29, police conducted a sting operation at the business. A female employee known to be unlicensed took money from an undercover officer with the intent of giving him a massage, according to police reports.
In April, the commission revoked licenses for three other St. Charles massage spas that violated their licenses. Employees at two of the spas also were charged with prostitution, and both are scheduled to appear in court later this month.
Last week in Batavia workers at two of that city's massage businesses were also charged with prostitution.
