My dear wife has a rare and painful injury. She rolled her foot out of a set of fashionable clogs-now in the trashcan. The ER doc misdiagnosed this as a grade 3 sprain. The DPM was not sure, ordered an MRI which showed swelling of the cuboid. He was reluctant to cast her foot and we finally went to an ortho doc who specializes in dance medicine. He hit it on the head- a sprain of the Lisfranc joint  HUH?
Some quick internet research shows that this is a rare injury to the TMT-tarso/metatarsal joint. Usually happens to a horse rider when they're thrown off and one foot stays in the stirrup. So she's now in a cast for a month and we're looking a 6-10 weeks of rehab. Our PT friend has only seen one of these in 20 years.
Has anyone seen or treated this rare and painful injury?
Any thoughts would be welcomed.
