Little touches.....

Can anyone tell me whether they have 'little touches' that they use during their treatments.

I currently use an oil burner to warm the oil during each treatment and I also place a hot towel on the back when giving a back massage and full body massage. As I am mobile I heat this up by dampening the cloth, wrapping it up in cling film and putting it in the microwave 1 minute. A number of clients have complimented this, so wanted to share this and wondered if there was anything else anybody does.

I have a small bag filled with wheat and scented with lavender, which I warm up and give to clients to cuddle up to during treatment. I'm also big on candles and music to make the atmosphere special. Apart from that I'd say a good bedside manner goes a long way!

I have a bag of stress stones which I tip out into my hands and ask my client to choose one, one that they may not immediately go for or perhaps one that they would not choose at another time but at this moment you are drawn to.

Then they choose their stone and I ask them to hold the stone and to take it with them when they leave to use the stone at any time that they are stressed or troubled and the stone will take their worries away.

Bags of stones are about £10 plus vat for 10 lovely coloures stones.

I have a bag of worry stones which I tip into my hand and ask my client to choose a stone, it may be a stone that they would not ordinarily choose but today they are drawn to, they choose a stone and I tell them to keep the stone and to use it any time they are troubled.

Small touch but they go away with a lovely coloured stone and it's a way that they will remember their treatment and me in the future.

Worry stones cost about £10 plus VAT for 10

Hi ... apart from the aforementioned candles, ambient music, dim lighting and aromatic oil burners ..... I always give my clients a small bottle of mineral water at the end of a treatment, and I make up small bags of bath salts to give to them when they leave ~ this is just mineral sea salts with a few drops of essential oils and a few drops of food colouring (just so they don't go and sprinkle it on their chips!!). I love the idea of giving your clients a crystal ... this would be good at the end of a Reiki treatment especially if you could source some reasonably priced manganocalite (pink calcite) which is often referred to as "the Reiki stone" .. it amplifies the energies and would be a great way of prolonging the treatment experience... but of course there are numerous other crystals that would do just as good a job... such as clear quartz.

I LOVE the idea of the bath salts! I think I might have to try that one for after my Reflexology treatment. A good sesh and a hot bath....... NICE!!

I too give them a bottle of water. I think it adds a touch of professionalism and the clients have something tangible to take away.

I give my chillie clients a hot water bottle and they like that. One lady who has terrible health and Raynaulds gets the full works....feet in a bowl of hot water with black pepper and ginger and hands on the hot water bottle. There is nothing worse than cold feet when you are having a massage, I know, I've had them!

I have a group each week and I am mobile and its in a school and i take candles and have soft music but can anyone suggest anything else.

what essential oil do you use in the sea salt. Also, what reason do you give the client when you present the bottle of water.

I also give away a bottle of water at the end of each treatment. (great minds...........)
Generally you don't need too much of a reason to give it , we will generally have discussed the need to drink water at the consultation , and rather than giving them a glass of water once I have finished a treatment I give them their own bottle of waterwhich they then take away.
If they are feeling "spaced" I will add a couple of drops of Clematis Bach Flower remedy to bring them back into themself and explain why!

Only done a couple of shows but always offer a bottle of water after a treatment for them to drink at their leisure. If I do aromatherapy and they like the blend I'll often give them a little something using the same oils used in their treatment. Other nice things.. candles, burning something lovely, smudging the room prior to treatment, offering to send a little reiki in the evening following a treatment should they wish, foot spa for reflexology..

thinking specifically for IHM you could get some v small tumble stones of the crystals for the chakras you will balance at the end , Blue lace agate, sodalite , amethyst, white quartz and then they can pick one to take home with them. should be able to get hold of some for pence each and that would be a nice touch.
you could also print out the after care advice , say in a trifold leaflet along with some details on IHM , history etc that would give them some to physically take away and you could put your contact details on it too

I give a packet of nasal strips for sporty clients and those who snore.

For on site office chair massage I take with me colourful Thai batic and cover all possible office furniture and decorate walls. Each onsite chair client gets from me hand rolled beewax candle.

I've bought a small thermos flask and when I do a reflexology treatment, I stand the pot of lotion mixed with essential oils in its lid full of boiling water. By the end of the treatment, I have lovely warm aromatic lotion ready for the foot massage.
