Local business laws

I would like to start a thread where we can all ask questions and share our local business practice laws, and their oddities.

Here in the city of Chicago, it is illegal to operate your business out of your home - technically, that includes outcalls because you are still considered to be operating from home as your base, ie scheduling appointments, etc.

Question -
To all you California folk -
I really want to move back to the Bay area, and would like to know whatever you can tell me about establishing a private practice there. I realize that CA laws aren't quite statewide at this point in time, so any info for SF and surrounding areas (north/west/northwest) would be very appreciated!

I just added a new section to my website at http://www.massagetherapycareers.com where I am collecting information on licensing and legislation just like this - the little idiosyncrasies that people are not aware of not only on a city level but a state level too.

I have added what I have found so far just from the laws and state boards website but how the laws affect your practice are not clear for many things...

I am wanting to provide this information for people who are thinking of getting into a massage career and to also show how we define ourself or how we let the states define us affect our ability to practice and be successful massage therapists...
