RADFORD, Va. (WSET) -- A man charged with nearly 60 counts of sexual battery entered into a plea agreement on Tuesday which was accepted by the court.
David Flanagan, of The Finest Hour Massage, faced 59 charges from five separate accusers.
He's been in jail since mid-December.
In exchange for a guilty plea, he was sentenced to 10 years with all but five months suspended on aggravated sexual battery and five years with all time suspended on five sexual battery charges.
Radford City's Commonwealth's Attorney, Chris Rehak, said the remaining 56 counts were dismissed in the agreement that included Flanagan would permanently surrender a license to massage and agree to never work as a massage therapist again.
He will get credit for time served and will have to pay $1,000 in fines.
Rehak said the suspended sentence may be revoked if he fails to keep the peace or maintain good behavior.
โThis case was very unique and the final disposition closes a sad and troubling chapter in the annals of Radford City crime. I commend all the brave victims who came forward and reported this abuse, as well as the fine work of Detective Sargent Jerry Holdaway of the Radford City Police Department," said Rehak. "This agreement was crafted with the concurrence and input of each victim who understandably wanted to avoid court and preserve their remaining privacy. While the Commonwealth was fully prepared to conduct jury trials, this guilty plea and punishment reflects the appropriate balance of facts and proportionality.โ
Flanagan also has to register as a sexually violent predator.
