Has anyone had experience with clients on Lovenox? My client just started on this and it can cause bruising, bleeding under the skin. She has been my client for 6 years and always injoys deep pressure. I've told her I'll look into this to see your wise replies. I realize I do not want to cause bruising but must she then give up her deep pressure which gives her the greatest relief?

I have a client who also just started taking a blood thinner, and she is bruised horribly just from normal household contact. What I told her is that after the dosage is adjusted and her body has settled with it - when she is not bruising nearly so easily (side effects do often subside greatly), we will test how much pressure she can receive without being bruised - slowly, carefully and with doctor's permission. In the meantime, since her doctor said massage is fine, she was very surprised on Tuesday to find how much good a very light pressure massage felt, and how much better she felt afterwards. Work does not always have to feel deep to affect the deep tissue issues......and sometimes what we feel to be deeper issues, really are more superficial.

Lovely Day, how is your client?

I saw mine again today, and I have to say I am distressed! The doctor put her on the injectible lovenox - she injects herself - and also on another form of heparin. She is STILL bruising something awful, and where the lovenox is injected, she has horrid hard lumps. That doesn't appear to be a common side effect. I've been reading about this tonight, and it just seems she is being double dosed on blood thinners and not being watched carefully enough. She said her doctor didn't care about the lumps. Yikes! :shock:
