Lower back pain and ill fitting shoes

Hello

I am new on here and wanted some advice - or at least to know if anyone has the same problem. I have really wide feet and suspect they are a bit flat. I have to wear plimsoll/canvas type flats all the time as they are the only type of shoe that don't hurt my feet but I think the constant thudding on the floor with these shoes on is causing the pain in my lower back.
I would like to get some suitable shoes and have this size and measuring guide but don't know where to go from there.
Can anyone suggest a type of shoe that would be better for me? Should I go to the doctors maybe?

I have a similar problem with my feet and I find that Hotter shoes are really good - the most comfortable shoes I've ever owned were from them. Their range of styles may be comparatively limited, but in terms of looking after your feet and back these are a great option.

I find trainers with gel compartments are good failing that padded inner soles. See the doc and ask for a referral to a foot specialist maybe?
