lower back pain & leg pain

I'v had a pain in my back on & off for years,alway done lots of bending lifting,Last april i had a fall at work with a heavy piece of machiery, since then i'v heard been able to walk, the company taken libillity for my accident, I'v had physio,acupunchure,then refered to a specialist,MRI Scan, I have one narrowing ,one prolapsed and 2 bulgen disc's,i'v tried everything going !!!
This week iv gone for the steroid injections in my nerve and 4 in my facet joints,its 4 days now and im still in pain!! Is there anyone out there with something off the same!! Specialist seems to be more bothered iv got a financial claim, than the pain i'm in!!!! It makes me so angry!!!! Can anyone help me!!!

My mum also hurt her back a couple of years back at work, she was a home carer and hurt it whilst lifting someone. It was also complicated because she suffers from scoliosis. She had lots of physio and accupuncture which helped short term. Then she went privately and had some of the steroid injections. The pain did not get better straight away but after a couple of weeks it did improve a lot, and touch wood she has been fine since. So i'll keep my fingers crossed for you, i do hope yours improves.

I have also been suffering with my back for the past year or so, I have pain in my back, hip, leg and I have recently been getting pins & needles in my foot. I have actually seen the specialist today and had an MRI done to see whats happening, I go back in a couple of weeks to get the results. I have been getting by, going swimming, doing various excercises as given by the physio and taking Diclofenic and Co-codamol, but its not ideal and can't wait to actually know whats causing this pain and hopefully get something sorted.

I have talked much about disc problems on this forum, so please do have a rummage about.

Hydrocortisone while it accelerates the rate of healing, the resultant 'healed' tissues are weaker than they would be if left to heal on their own. Please don't let this worry you - the general consenus on this is that one or two in the same area should not cause a problem, but certainly no more than 3. Also, it is only addressing the symptom of inflammation and not the underlying mechanical cause. And there may be a biochemical reason why you are prone to disc injury.

Glucosamine sulphate & copper have both shown in studies to help maintain the integrity of intervertebral discs, so I'd be off to the health food shop for starters.

Also, book yourself in with an osteopath, but make sure that they are aware of the MRI findings, although they should ask as a matter of course. It just means that they need to bear this in mind & treat you gently until the herniating (bulging) discs have stabilised.

In your particular case - I would also suggest investing in an Inversion Table. It's one of those things that you tilt back & hang upside down on, with ankles strapped in. Don't get a cheap one though. May be worth checking eBay for that.

The least tinkering with knives & needles the less likely your body will have to contend with scar tissue & potential nerve damage.
