“As Loyalist College expands its health and wellness programming and applied research projects, we will continue to support our region through new innovative learning spaces and career-ready graduates who are committed to community care,” said Vaughan.
Through a combination of on-campus and clinical placements under the supervision of registered massage therapists, students of Loyalist’s Massage Therapy program will learn what is required to conduct a massage therapy practice within a legal, professional and ethical framework.
The program will teach students to explore business principles relevant to massage therapy practice and how to communicate and collaborate effectively with clients, colleagues and as a member of an interprofessional team.
Graduates of Loyalist College’s Massage Therapy program will be prepared for a rewarding career in a range of health and wellness industries, including private practice, chiropractic offices, long-term care facilities and multidisciplinary health care organizations.
To practice as a massage therapist in Ontario, graduates will be required to register with the College of Massage Therapists of Ontario (CMTO). The registration process requires the successful completion of professional certification examinations.
