Lumbar herniating leading to neck pain?

In april 2005 i injured my back, and in June 2005 an MRI showed I had a herniated disc in L3/L4 & L4/L5.

Now in JanuaryI have stated to experience severe neck pain. I got an MRI taken, and I feareda cervicalhernation. The MRI however showed no herniations in the neckarea of the spine whatsoever. In fact, the MRI showed nothing "unnormal" whatsoever.

I therefore assume that my neckpain may have direct connection with my lower back problems. Perhaps with muscular tension spreading up to the neck?

Has anyone else experienced what I am describing;lower back problems, followed by later, seemingly mysticalneckproblems?

Your LBP may have influenced your posture which has put a strain on your back. You may consider going to someone who can look at your alignment - a physio or a Pilates teacher, who can teach you to hold yourself correctly, and let tension drop away from your body.

Have to agree with SM, in that lumbar posture can affect neck posture, so for the long term that may need addressing.

Theactual source of the pain is most probably from a 'locking' or irritation of one or more of the small facet joints at the back of the spine in your neck. Anyosteopath or chiropractorshould be able to release it for you, work to reduce the excess tension/spams in the associated musclesand advise on stretches to keep it moving.
