Lumbar Problems

I wonder if anyone can help? I have just had the results of my MRI Scan and I really sont understand what this means. I started having lumbar problems from the 5 minute birth of my daughter and this is what they have put:

Disc Hernia at T11-12 with spinal cord compromse but without evidence of myelopathy. Mild Degenerative changes L3-S1, Disc Protrusion at L3-4 with possible mild displacement of the right extraforaminal L3 nerve root.

Can someone explain in english please??

Lower T injuries[T-11 to T12] may yield imbalance in your abdominal muscles,myelopathy woud refer to inflamation.L3 - S1, would include nerve supply to lumbar,bowel,bladder,sexual organs and thigh areas.Hope this helps,a fair amount of damage

Does this mean that I could be like this for a number of years? I am so confused about it all And also I have noticed that I have quite a bit of numbness now in my left leg ~ I have not felt my left big toe for months and also under the arch of my left foot, could this be due to the above probs?

Your consultant will discuss options with you,the numbness is a symptom of Lumbar injuries,I have a client with similar injuries and after 4 treatments of Reflexology,the numbness has gone,I wish I could be more helpful to you but you really should discuss with your GP or consultant.The degenerative would have been there from wear and tear but is obviously been aggravated.Physiotherapy.exercise and rest would always be advisable,and your GP may also prescribe analgesics or injections of local anesthetic,really surgery unless emergency would be a last resort.

Birth causes a lot of trauma to the pelvic floor as mentioned above. I would recommend Bowen Technique which has several moves to work on this area. Bowen has shown great results in the treatment of back pain. In particular, there is a move that works on the coccyx (which will have moved during childbirth due to the hormone relaxin) - it's a very powerful move, so much so that it's not used that often, but has enormous benefits to the pelvic floor, both at a muscular/skeletal level and at an organic level.

Thank you for your help ~ I am due to see my spinal surgeon on the 21st so hopefully he will give me the options ~ I am already on 6000mg of pain killers per day so hopefully they can sort me out. I have already had physio but they advised to stop this as I have also fractured the L6? vertebrae ~ nightmare! And due to having the baby (my partner left when she was 6 weeks) I dont get much rest!! aghhh! lol But thank you once again for your help x

Many thanks for your help as I explained to one member on here I was advised not to do physio at the moment due to the fracture of the vertebrae (L6) but will speak with consultant on 21st and see if he thinks that this technique would be good ~ many thanks once again xx

Aww bless you, life deals us trials and we deal with them ~ the problem i have is that I cant get any help with Disability Living allowance and have been turned down twice as i can peel a spud! ridicuous!!
