BELMAR, NJ — It was Lynette Coppola’s 30-year career in the service industry that brought her to a major turning point in life.

During those years, she experienced firsthand that working endless hours on your feet takes a heavy toll not only on the body, but on overall health and well-being.

But since she worked for 15 years of that time at some of the area's top spas, she also learned the many benefits of massage to soothe the mind, body and soul.

Taking the wealth of knowledge she gained in those roles, Coppola decided to embark upon a profession of her own. After becoming a licensed massage therapist several years ago, she recently opened Lynette’s Healing Touch at 604 Main Street in Belmar, where she offers a full array of therapeutic massage techniques in a warm and inviting vintage studio setting.

“I’ve always liked helping people. So becoming a licensed massage therapist was something that came natural to me. I could combine my professional experience with my nurturing spirit,” said Coppola, who completed her studies at the Cortiva Massage Institute in Wall — one of its 11 campuses throughout the United States.

“For many years, I’ve seen the effects of being on your feet for long hours, and the stress and pressure it brings upon your body,” she said. “Now I have the training and tools needed to help people relieve stress, improve circulation and enhance their overall well-being.”

In addition to providing therapeutic massage sessions at her studio, Coppola also takes her services on the road to such events as corporate functions, golf outings and bridal shows.

She also volunteers her time with Cranford-based Ascent Hospice, providing massage therapy to those receiving compassionate, end-of-life care. “Just a simple touch can make such a difference,” she said.

At her studio, Coppola offers a variety of massage therapy styles, including full body massage, deep tissue massage to relax sore muscles, healing stone massage, scalp massage, foot scrub and massage, as well as aromatherapy

And now that she shares an address with Sweet Tease Tea Room and Cafe, she and Sweet Tease owner Kate Heath are teaming up for “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun” events. For these occasions, they can open the door between their adjoining facilities and offer a charming party space, where guests can relax with a massage and enjoy an appetizing bite to eat — from scones, soups and quiche — with bottomless pots of tea, or even a bring-your-own mimosa bar.
