A Novato man with a pending case in Marin County for bothering teenage boys was arrested Friday for lewd conduct toward a minor, officials said.
On Wednesday, police received a complaint from a 15-year-old boy, who said a man, later identified as 27-year-old Jonathan Sobol, passed him a note from a car. The boy gave the note to officers, who posed as the teen and exchanged text messages with Sobol, police said.
Investigators arranged to meet Sobol at an agreed-upon location, where detectives contacted him but ultimately let him go as they continued the investigation. By Friday, however, police had gathered enough evidence to issue a warrant for Sobol’s arrest, and they took him into custody without incident on suspicion of contact with a minor for lewd purposes and annoying a child younger than 18, officials said.
Sobol was arrested in September after police say he exposed himself to a child and offered on six occasions to pay people to give them massages. Sobol has not been prosecuted on charges stemming from those incidents, but police said an effort would be made to expedite his prosecution in Wednesday’s incident.
