LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) — A Lincoln masseur was arrested after a woman told police she’d been sexually assaulted while getting a massage.
Authorities arrested 41-year-old Laveal Jones after he turned himself in Monday. He’s since been charged with a single count of first-degree sexual assault.
A woman contacted police on March 27 to report a sexual assault at a massage business in southeast Lincoln. She told officers she was receiving a massage from a masseur, later identified as Jones, before he sexually assaulted her, according to an arrest affidavit.
Jones then pressed hard against her neck, causing the woman to fear she was about to be strangled, police wrote. She reported the alleged assault after leaving the business and a Sexual Assault Nurse Examination was conducted.
Officers met with Jones at his home on April 4. He denied the allegation, but he agreed to submit a DNA sample to be referenced against the sexual assault kit.
On April 22, the Nebraska State Patrol crime lab shared its report with the Lincoln Police Department. The results showed Jones had inappropriately touched the woman in two places, the affidavit shows.
Officers went to arrest Jones on Thursday, but he would end up turning himself into jail on Monday. At his arraignment Tuesday, a judge set his bond at 10% of $350,000.
His next court hearing is scheduled for June 4.
