Massage at festivals

Hello

Has anyone had a stand at a music festival or worked for someone who has? I Have a stand at one this summer and just wondered if any of you could give me any tips/advice.....

I have done a few other events but not on this scale. I am working with my collegue so there should be no issue with safety and I am hoping a friend can meet me each day to take the money off us so we do not have a large amount of cash on us.

Any ideas or experience would be great.

I have only done Indian Head Massage at church fetes and am doing it again this year at a church fete and also a police fete. Have never done any at larger festivals, so I too would be interested to hear what experience others have had.

I just went on the organisers website and called their contact number and asked for the person who deals with the stalls, they gave me an email address and I wrote to them explaining what I do.

Good luck,I think it will be a really good experience and a great way to get yourself known in the area.

I have been looking into doing some festivals this year as I think it would be a great way to get lots of experience, but so far the ones I have found that look the best are all full up.

I'd love to hear how you get on with it anyway!

Hi ya

I have been practising at various festivals for several years. My advice is:

1. You need to book early, some festies need to be booked after the new year.

2. Be straight with pricing. By donation confuses clients and undervalues your service. Also some of these festies want hundreds of pounds for a stall. Can be an expensive hobby if you are not careful!

3. Have a booking sheet, especially for two/three day events

4. Have some interesting display, i.e reflexology posters or buddhas or pictures of massageon the street markets in Thailand (that's my personal favourite)

5. Be available regularly, not just bugger off to see a band or smoke dope or get pissed the night before and wake up with a hangover.

6. Share stall with a fellow therapist to share expenses and work in shifts, and a shoulder to cry on if it goes wrong!

7. Clean top/t-shirt every day

8. You must be insured

9. Have a goodenclosed structure to work in. It does rain sometimes!

10. Choose festies that reflect your interests, smile and have fun!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The festival in Cornwall is down in Gweek near Helston. It is called "Holifair" and is based on the Holifield Farm Project for special needs. It is on 10/11/12 August. You can buy a ticket and camp for the three days or buy a Sunday daytime pass, which a lot of locals purchase.

It is quite a small festival but friendly and is situated in beautiful countryside. They is various stalls, entertainment, bands and a healing area. It worth going just to relax and chill out.

If you are interested I will pass more info on as and when I get hold of it.

hi there - I hope you dont mind me asking - I m going to shambala and also would love to massage there - do you know anyone I can get in touch with - Ive tried contacting the festie organisers but no joy so far.
Any advice welcome - this or other festivals - i do swedish thai chair and thai foot massage.
